ドアが出口の当らないために注意してはいけない。 in Japanese, according to Alta Vista's Babel fist translation, means; "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."
Darrell Rasner had asked Yankee GM Brian Cashman to be shipped over to Japan, where he would eventually sign a two year deal with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Pacific League.
Rasner finished with a 5-10 record, posting a 5.40 era in 24 games with the Bombers last season. With all the talk of the Yanks retooling their rotation this offseason, Rasner inevitably saw the writing on the wall.
Darrell Rasner, RHP (5-9, 5.08)
Yankees (74-64)
Scott Kazmir, LHP (10-6, 3.13)
Rays (84-52)
Scouting Report:
Yankees: Rasner held the Blue Jays to two runs through six innings and was economical with just 67 throws. But when he was sent back out for the seventh, Rasner allowed two hits and a walk. He was tagged for five runs total (four earned) to pick up the no-decision. It marked just the third time in his past 10 starts that Rasner pitched at least six innings. He gave up six hits, striking out one and recording one walk. Rasner has not faced Tampa Bay this season.
Rays: Kazmir notched his 10th win of the season against Baltimore on Friday night, tossing 5 1/3 innings of shutout baseball. He scattered three hits and three walks while striking out six. The 24-year-old left-hander has struggled with his mechanics lately and has worked all season with little luck to gain command of his slider, which has historically been his best pitch. Although he fared better on Friday night, Kazmir is still focusing on finding a way to pitch deeper into the game. He has not gone longer than six innings since tossing seven shutout frames against Oakland on July 21. He will be making his 23rd start of the season on Thursday, his third against New York.
John Parrish, LHP (1-0, 4.05)
Blue Jays (68-64)
Darrell Rasner, RHP (5-9, 5.03)
Yankees (70-62)
Scouting Report:
Blue Jays: The Blue Jays recalled Parrish from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, and he'll make a spot start against the Yankees during a three-game set on the road. This season for the Jays, Parrish has gone 1-0 with a 4.71 ERA as a starter, allowing 11 runs on 21 hits in 21 innings, with his last start coming on July 5. This season at Triple-A, Parrish went 10-1 with a 2.97 ERA in 17 games. The lefty is 0-4 with a 4.50 ERA in 30 career outings against the Yankees.
Yankees:After his last outing, a 3 1/3 inning, three-earned-run affair against Baltimore, Rasner said he was "disgusted" by the way he threw. It was indeed a rough outing for the 27-year-old who has been the tough-luck loser several times this season for New York. Last Sunday, however, wasn't tough luck at all. Rasner struggled with his control all afternoon, consistently leaving the ball up in the zone, and he was hammered for eight hits. Rasner has not walked away a winner since before the All-Star break, July 12, when he threw five innings and allowed three earned runs. Over that stretch, the right-hander is 0-2 in six starts.
Darrell Rasner, RHP (5-9, 4.93)
Yankees (69-60)
Daniel Cabrera, RHP (8-8, 4.98)
Orioles (61-67)
Scouting Report:
Yankees: Rasner will get another turn through the Yankees' rotation on Sunday, when he wraps up the club's three-game series at Camden Yards. The 27-year-old was sharp on Tuesday at Rogers Centre in Toronto, holding the Blue Jays scoreless through six innings on three hits before Adam Lind sent a 3-2 cutter over the right-field wall to send Rasner to a 6 2/3-inning no-decision. Rasner's record is deceiving, as the Yankees have burned him with a lack of run support numerous times. Still, he is winless in his past six appearances. He is 1-2 with a 2.37 ERA in three starts vs. Baltimore this year.
Orioles: Cabrera allowed six earned runs over 4 1/3 innings in his last start, the latest in a string of unsuccessful outings for the right-hander. Cabrera has now allowed six earned runs in four of his last seven starts, a stretch that dates back to July 19. Cabrera allowed the Red Sox offense to jump on him early, scoring three runs in the first two innings, and then was unable to keep the game close after his own offense put up two runs in the third. His night was finished after allowing three runs and then a walk in the top of the fifth. Cabrera has pitched very well against the Yankees, though, going 3-0 while allowing seven combined earned runs in 20 innings.
Darrell Rasner pitched the game of his life, but thanks to two defensive miscues by newly appointed center fielder Johnny Damon, the Blue Jays were able to eke out a 2-1 win over the Bombers.
The Yankees handed Rasner a 1 run lead after their first at bats of the game. Rasner eventually gave up a solo shot to Adam Lind in the seventh, and Damon's costly error in the bottom of the eighth cost the Yanks the game.

Darrell Rasner, RHP (5-9, 5.18)
Yankees (66-58)
A.J. Burnett, RHP (15-9, 4.67)
Blue Jays (64-60)Scouting Report:
Yankees: With Dan Giese on the 15-day disabled list, the Yankees will turn to Rasner as they open a three-game series with the Blue Jays in Toronto on Tuesday. Rasner started on Aug. 13 at Minnesota and kept the Yankees in the game, limiting the Twins to three runs (two earned) on four hits through five innings. Still, the result was another loss for Rasner, who is 0-2 with a 5.76 ERA in his last five appearances (four starts). He takes on the Blue Jays, whom he beat with five innings of four-run (three earned) ball on July 12.Blue Jays: Burnett has won five starts in a row, tying rotation mates Roy Halladay and Jesse Litsch for the longest winning streak of the season by a Blue Jays starter. On Tuesday, Burnett picked up a win on the road against the Tigers after giving up four runs on eight hits, including a season-high three home runs, with six strikeouts and one walk. Burnett upped his American League-leading strikeout total to 165 in the 108-pitch effort, which marked his seventh win in his past eight starts.
John Lackey, RHP (9-2, 2.93)
Angels (67-40)
Darrell Rasner, RHP (5-8, 4.92)
Yankees (59-48)
Scouting Report:
Angels: Lackey delivered one of the finest efforts of his career at Fenway Park on Tuesday night, coming within two outs of his first no-hitter before Dustin Pedroia banged a curveball for a single and Kevin Youkilis whacked a slider for a homer. The big Texan established his fastball early and mixed the off-speed stuff in later. He said he's had better stuff but was delighted with the location after enduring four substandard outings in a row. He feels he's back in sync in his return to Yankee Stadium, where he's 3-3 in seven career starts with a 3.49 ERA. He is 4-7 with a 4.81 ERA overall against the Bronx Bombers.Yankees: Rasner gave his team a chance to win, but couldn't quite come back from a rough start Tuesday night against the Orioles. He surrendered four earned runs and eight hits, walking three and striking out one. The righty gave up one run in the first inning, but settled down to escape a bases-loaded jam. Rasner said he felt he had to battle from the get-go with his command, but he felt good that he pushed through it to get through six innings plus two batters. He allowed a single and hit a batter to start the seventh inning, and the eventual runs cost the Yankees the lead and gave Rasner the loss.
Jeremy Guthrie, RHP (6-8, 3.58)
Orioles (49-55)
Darrell Rasner, RHP (5-7, 4.83)
Yankees (58-45)
Scouting Report:
Orioles: Guthrie's last outing was cut short by torrential downpours in Baltimore but the right-hander was on the hook for the loss when the game against the Blue Jays was suspended with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. Guthrie had allowed just one run before the sixth but the Blue Jays were able to plate the go-ahead run in a 1-1 tie just before the game was suspended and finished the next day. Guthrie is 0-1 in one start against the Yankees this season. He went seven innings, allowing three earned runs off six hits. The right-hander has a 3.47 ERA on the road.
Yankees: In his first start in more than a week, Rasner limited the Twins to two runs through 5 2/3 innings Tuesday night. He held Minnesota scoreless through the first five innings before surrendering two runs in the sixth. The right-hander scattered four hits, walking four and striking out two. Rasner is 1-1 against Baltimore this season with a 0.69 ERA through 13 innings.
Kevin Slowey, RHP (6-6, 4.26)
Twins (54-42)
Darrell Rasner, RHP (5-7, 4.97)
Yankees (51-45)
Scouting Report:
Twins: An infected fingernail on Slowey's right middle finger pushed him back to the end of the rotation. The right-hander had initially been tabbed to start the first contest after the All-Star break. After a string of good starts, Slowey has found some trouble recently. He's given up at least five earned runs in each of his last two starts. The Twins need Slowey to make quicker adjustments on the mound and keep the ball down in the zone. He'll try to do just that when he faces the Yankees for the first time this season.
Yankees: Rasner battled through five innings en route to his fifth victory of the season during his last outing against the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old allowed four runs in the first inning of the game but settled in and managed to get through five innings on 108 pitches. He finished his outing with six strikeouts for his first victory since June 18. After starting the season with three straight victories, Rasner is now 2-7 with a 6.19 ERA over his past nine outings. He is 1-1 with a 3.97 ERA in his two career starts against the Twins.
Darrell Rasner got off to a shaky start, allowing four runs in the first inning, but settled down and shut down the Jays the rest of the way.
Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez each homered in the win.

Mike Mussina, RHP (11-6, 3.64)
Yankees (49-42)
Paul Maholm, LHP (5-5, 4.05)
Pirates (40-47)
Scouting Report:
Yankees: Mussina threw 46 pitches before rain halted play when these two teams tried to wrap up their three-game series on June 26. The Yankees held a 3-1 lead in the top of the third when the umpires called for the tarp. In his most recent start, on Saturday against the Red Sox, Mussina allowed four hits and a walk in six scoreless innings to get his 261st career victory. He struck out five in what became a 2-1 Yankees victory.
Pirates: Maholm continues to be the stabilizer in the rotation. With another stellar outing his last time out, the lefty has gone at least eight innings in four of his starts this season. No other Pittsburgh starter has done so once. Maholm has revamped his preparation routine and it's led to a much-improved efficiency and a tendency to stay lower in the zone with his pitches. When he's getting ground-ball outs, it's a sign that all is right. Maholm was the pitcher in the game between these two clubs which was rained out back in June. The lefty had allowed three runs on five hits in 2 2/3 innings before the game was postponed.
Boston handed the Bombers yet another loss, dropping them into fourth place in the AL East. The last time the Yankees were in fourth place this late in the season was at the end of the 1992 season.
The Yanks had a 3 run lead after the first inning, but Rasner gave up three in the third and three more in the sixth inning, dropping his record to 4-7.

Josh Beckett, RHP (7-5, 3.65)
Red Sox (50-34)
Darrell Rasner, RHP (4-6, 4.42)
Yankees (44-38)
Scouting Report:
Red Sox: Despite his modest win total, Beckett is on his best roll of the season. In June, the righty went 2-1 with a 2.38 ERA over five starts. He has given up two earned runs or less in six of his last seven outings. Beckett is 2-0 against the Yankees this season. This will be his second outing of the year at Yankee Stadium, where he allowed six hits and three runs in a win on April 17. In nine road starts, Beckett is 3-4 with a 3.19 ERA. In his last start, he gave up two runs over seven innings in a no-decision against the Astros.
Yankees: Even though Rasner kept his team in the game by allowing just two runs in the Yankees' 3-1 loss to the Mets on Sunday, his five innings were full of trouble. That's what happens when you give up eight hits and three walks. Rasner maintained a sub-3.00 ERA in his first six starts, but he's seen his ERA climb to 4.42 in his last outings.
Darrell Rasner, RHP (4-5, 4.50)
Yankees (42-36)
Oliver Perez, LHP (5-5, 5.29)
Mets (38-39)
Scouting Report:
Yankees: Rasner will get the ball for a Subway Series start against the Mets after his earlier turn this year was washed out by rain at Yankee Stadium. His season ended last May in a start against the Mets when Endy Chavez broke Rasner's right index finger with a first-inning comebacker at Shea Stadium.
Mets: The Mariners pounced on Perez in his Tuesday start, hammering him for five runs in five innings. Aside from three strikeouts, Perez allowed seven hits -- two of which were home runs -- and he plunked a batter. While the Mets are still figuring out what to do with the flashy yet erratic lefty, manager Jerry Manuel said after Tuesday's game that the team will have to consider its options as to whether keeping Perez in the rotation would benefit the club. If he makes his next start vs. the Yankees, it could be to his advantage, because he is a career 4-1 with a 2.88 ERA against the Bronx Bombers.
