Reds rookie first basemen Joey Votto homered off Mike Mussina, en route to a 4-2 Cincinnati victory on Friday. The homer was Votto's 12th of the season and his 37th RBI.
Reds right hander Edinson Volquez improved to 10-2 on the season after striking out five and allowing two runs on seven hits. Volquez lasted seven innings and Fransisco Cordero earned his 14th save of the season.
Mussina lasted 8 innings last night, and he continues to show that he still has a lot left in his arm. Despite giving up four runs, Moose stuck out four batters while walking only two.
