The Yankees signed former Florida Marlin starting pitcher Sergio Mitre to a minor league deal, worth $1.25 million, with the team holding a club option for 2010.
Don't expect to see Mitre in pinstripes until after the All-Star Break, as he is recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Mitre was a member of Joe Girardi's 2006 Florida Marlins, going 5-8 with a 4.65 era. Mitre's most effective pitch is his sinkerball.
